 | “No limit may be set to art, neither is there any craftsman that is fully master of his craft.” The instruction of Ptahhotep
Beneath the sands of Egypt lie the tombs of ancient kings and queens. Hidden in those tombs are glorious works of art that depict the daily lives , ceremonial and religious rituals of a culture now faded away. Inspired by that culture and those works of art, I create art that pays homage to ancient Egypt.
My name is Jamie Wood and I am the artist behind the creations. I produce mixed media bias reliefs, and papyrus. My work includes traditional framed pieces, as well as freestanding furniture. By using a process involving acrylics, crushed marble and gold leafing I create art by hand that is as unique and meaningful as those done by the ancients themselves. I use the ancient palette and designs as much as possible, but of course, this is ancient Egypt seen through my own unique eye. | |
